I’m a licensed clinical mental health counselor, psychotherapist, executive business coach, and author based in Tucson, Arizona — though my work spans states, populations, and a few categories that don’t fit neatly into a single description.

I studied at the Kinsey Institute, which shaped my early focus on sexuality, gender, and relationships. Over the past twelve years I’ve built two group mental health practices — Tucson Counseling Associates in Arizona and Soma Psychotherapy in Utah — growing both from the ground up while training and supervising the next generation of clinicians. That experience has made me as interested in the business and culture of mental health care as in the clinical work itself.

I’m passionate about advocating for humans to have access to human therapists and I find myself railing against the corporate capture and consolidation of power. My aim is to document and investigate what is happening in the mental health field and rally other human healers together.

My writing and clinical work cover a lot of the same territory: psychedelics and psychedelic-assisted therapy, ethical non-monogamy and alternative relationship structures, perinatal and postpartum mental health, and the ways our systems of care fail the people who need them most. My therapeutic approach is grounded in intersectional feminism, harm reduction, and the belief that most distress is a normal response to a broken world- not a personal failing.

I wrote The Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Treatment Companion (New Harbinger Press) and my work has appeared in TIME, Chacruna, and other publications. I’m also the co-creator of Southwest Love Fest, a conference on relationships and community.

I live in Tucson with my family, a garden that demands more than it gets, and a running list of things I’m writing next.
